Laughing Out Loud

BOBA PRESENTS “LOL”

Boba Cabaret aims to keep the audience “LOL (Laughing Out Loud)” with their latest musical revue.  Opening March 5th and running through March 20th, Megan McQueen directs a cast of three in an amusing revue of entirely comedic material.

“While we’re presenting comedy from such classic musicals as Anything Goes and A Chorus Line,” explains McQueen, “many of the pieces we’re including are from more recent hits like The Producers and The Drowsy Chaperone.  So the title – LOL – really reflects most of the material we’ve selected, because it is modern and timely enough to appeal to the texting generation.”

Cast member Brandon Brown founded lo-fi productions and has performed dozens of roles for area theaters.  Most recently, he appeared in Boba Cabaret’s The Musical of Musicals.  He will present such diverse character pieces as a dumb jock’s “Pass That Football,” an oddball spelling bee contestant’s “I’m Not That Smart,” and a Latin lover’s “Aldolpho.”

Joining him is Carrie Klofach who directed Boba’s first two productions and most recently appeared in their Earth Angels and as the Cat in the Hat in American Southwest Theater Company’s Seussical.  Her numbers will convey humorous story-songs such as a pet owner’s tribulations in “My Dogs,” a rant on acting classes in “Nothing,” and a mother’s frustrations in “His Rocking Horse Ran Away.”

Ginny May, pianist for Mesilla Valley Chorale and Boba’s most frequent accompanist, is also a member of the Earth Angels.  In addition to playing piano for the numerous solos and duets throughout the show, she will sing Tom Lehrer’s “My Hometown.”

Dinner will seat at 6pm with show time at 7pm for $25 (includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner entrée, a beverage -including beer or wine, and gratuity).  The second show, seating at 8:15pm, is $10 for the performance.  Reservations are recommended.
